Ten candles under $40 that satisfy more than one sense

Candles… I love them!  I honestly did not understand the hype for a long time.  My mom had these unattractive large jar candles when I was growing up that would give me migraines from their overwhelming scent that smelled like floral perfume mixed with toilet cleaner.  I didn’t like candles till I was probably 25 years old when my aunt gave me a high quality candle from Anthropologie for a house warming gift.  This candle was a game changer.  It was pretty, it smelled amazing, and it looked great in any room.

Now candles are a go to gift for birthdays, house warming parties, host gifts, etc.  My husband even likes getting his favorite scent for Christmas.  When choosing candles for my house and gifts I look for a few key factors.  First of all, I make sure the scent is not too strong.  I prefer a subtle lovely scent or no scent at all for ambiance.  When I’m baking cookies, the last thing I want is an orchid smell overpowering the delicious scent of sugar and butter.  On the other hand, when I’ve just mopped my floors with vinegar and water, a nice scent can go a long way.

After considering scents, I like to make sure the jar is beautiful and versatile in many spaces.  I feel candles should be an asset to design, not an eyesore.  Lastly, when buying a gift, I like to make sure it comes from a company I know, love, and trust to ensure if the recipient doesn’t love their candle, they will have an easy time exchanging it.

This brings me to my list of my favorite candles under $40.00.  When shopping for hostess/ friend’s birthday presents, my budget is usually around twenty to forty dollars and the candles in here are just perfect for such an event.  My absolute favorite candle of all time is the Anthropologie Capri Blue Volcano candle.  The scent is magical and I love the iridescent jar.  It goes great with my marble and brass kitchen, however I think it compliments any space.  I honestly have not met any one that does not fall in love with this scent so if you’re looking for a sure hit I would highly recommend it.  I hope this list is helpful and adds something special to your or a loved ones home.
