Putting Spaces Together

Shared Boys Bedroom

I think it always takes a bit of creativity to have a successful shared boys bedroom.  We can’t all have the perfect amount of bedrooms for our families.  Or, our kids may prefer to share with their sibling.  My goal with this arrangement was to design a functional and economical shared boys bedroom that will last over time.

I started my search for the perfect bunk bed.  I went with the bunk bed to save space to allow a chair and large dresser to be in the room as well.  I like this bed because it is pretty, sturdy, and a great price.

The chair is a neutral gray that is functional and comfortable.  I love this chair because I can vision it in a baby’s room all the way to an adult.  The dresser is sturdy, neutral, and I love it because one dresser would provide four drawers for each child.  Above the dresser, I would put two of these Pottery Barn lanterns symmetrically mounted on the wall to add visual interest and free up space on the dresser.

For storage, this book shelf is adorable and functional.  It’s great because it provides storage on the bottom for toys or shoes and the racks are perfect for books, magazines, etc.  For artwork, these two Target prints just screamed to me.  They are fun, neutral, and again great for any age.

To finish up the room, I chose these navy/white duvets to put on the beds.  I love the pop of color and the clean lines.  I think this shared boys bedroom would be cute with a few other navy accents.  You could add a textured rug, a fun navy pillow on the graychair, navy frames, etc.  Next, I will design a shared girls space which is fun, economical, and neutral.
